Church Membership

Church Membership is an important step that helps move each of us off the sidelines and into the church. The big difference between a church attendee and a church member is commitment. Membership lets the local church leadership know, "You can count on me...I am ready....I am putting down my roots."

The Bible is very clear on involvement and commitment to a local church as essential for believers.  Although membership is not listed as a requirement for a Christian in the Bible, throughout the New Testament there are many verses about Christians meeting in local congregations. We at HBC believe that church membership is an expression of our commitment to God and shows our willingness to be identified with and support our local church.

Church members gather together at our bi-monthly Church Meetings, where matters of importance to the church are discussed and we pray for God's guidance. The Church Meeting takes decisions on things such as accepting new members, the church budget, appointment of ministers and other leaders, and other significant issues (for example, it was the Church Meeting which decided to knock down our old premises and construct a new building!).

If you are interested in becoming a member please contact our ministers James Bloice Smith or Chris Band or talk to your house group leader.
