We have a long tradition of running Holiday clubs which have always been very well attended.  In the last four years we have run ‘Powerpack’ Holiday clubs with Nick Jackson, Powerpack Ministries, running the programme.  In 2010 we had nearly 140 children involved.  We are running ‘Space Adventure’ in 2011 8th-12th August with a family BBQ on Sunday 14th.  It is at this holiday club we are leading ‘on-the-job’ training.

WEEK TWO: Community Involvement, Northway & Barton

Headington Baptist Church is partnering with Northway Church.  Over last year we have strengthened links, developed new projects (Ice Cream Sundae) and supported the leadership.  We have good links with the local school and now wish to launch our first Holiday club together, hopefully with your help.
We are running 5 morning sessions in Northway 15th-19th August, with a core team involved in this children’s ministry experience.  This will be a similar programme to the week before, with leadership and workshops led by the team.

As a church we also have a ‘Sunday @ 5’ church in the community of Barton.  This is a worshipping community that gathers for song, short word and prayer, alongside, art activities, outdoor games, sharing a meal and a range of activities from bike fixing to treasure hunts.  We meet in the church hall of the Parish church and began in June 2010 with two weeks of door-to-door asking the question: ‘If Carlsberg did church what would it look like?’ the responses were great and we began with a healthy group of local people who are growing in faith.  It is very exciting.  We are running 5 afternoon sessions in Barton, with an almost identical programme to Northway.
