Biography: Stuart came to faith aged 15 at a Scripture Union camp on the Isle of Arran, and studied Science, then Medicine at Glasgow University graduating in 1988. He did his junior doctor training in Glasgow and Oxford and was appointed a hospital Consultant in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care Medicine in 2000 at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
He has received no formal theological training, but reads widely on the New Testament, and in particular in trying to understand what those early Christians would have understood of Jesus teaching and the NT epistles - the context and language of that time. He was encouraged to preach by HBC leadership in 2002, and has continued to do so since, as well as preaching in some of the smaller churches around Oxford.
Stuart is married to Ronnie and they have 3 children - Luke, Melissa and Joel, and live in Headington. His family are a huge joy to him.
Stuart has taught and travelled widely as a doctor, (UK, Africa, Asia) and oversees teaching programmes for many newly qualified doctors at his hospital. Away from work, Stuart enjoys exercise on his bike and golf course, an eclectic range of music, and tries his hand at creative writing.
